Revving up for an automotive spectacle, the Memphis International Auto Show is ready to roll at the Renasant Convention Center, showcasing the latest and greatest from over 25 car manufacturers, as reported by Action News 5. The event, running from March 22 to March 24 is entirely free of charge, a generous gift from the Greater Memphis Auto Dealers Association.
With doors swinging open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and until 5 p.m. on Sunday, visitors can slide behind the wheel, pop the hood, and engage with cutting-edge car tech, courtesy of the show's no-cost entry policy; and for those keen on the educational curve, Moore Tech, a local nonprofit trade school will be showcasing their automotive training programs for the future grease monkeys of high school age and up—something that's certainly needed when you consider how most of the cars on the road are pushing a decade or older, and hey, this tech isn't going to fix itself.
In what surely will be a rubber-meets-the-road moment, Brian Moody, Executive Editor at Autotrader, shared his insights with Action News 5, forecasting a downturn in auto prices particularly for electric models, despite varied consumer preferences. "While some buyers are interested in electric cars, many prefer hybrid or gasoline-only powered vehicles," Moody noted, adding that "There are more than 33 hybrid vehicles now available and many of those will be on display at the Memphis International Auto Show, making it a great place to learn about all the options available today."
But it's not just about shiny new EVs—even though they are rather sleek and quite frankly, the future—innovation and interactive experiences are parked at every turn with models from Ford to Maserati, as Kelley Blue Book's Executive Editor Brian Moody told WREG, highlighting the evolution of auto show tire-kicking to tech-testing, given the tech leap in newer models that are often missed by the average Joe's ten-year-old daily driver.
Located at 225 North Main Street, the Renasant Center is set to be the hub for car enthusiasts, potential buyers, or curious lookers-on just wanting to check out the latest in passenger-side touch screens blind spot monitoring and a suite of other features that, according to Moody, "may be new to some people." For the complete gearhead breakdown, the full preview of what to expect can be found in the pre-event chit-chat on Action News 5 and further event details are detailed on FOX13 Memphis.
