A teenage driver involved in a high-speed police chase on Ga. 400 that resulted in a multi-car crash and several injuries, was found with a stolen gun and drugs, officials reported. The chaos unfolded on a Georgia highway when a Forsyth County deputy attempted to pull over the vehicle for a traffic violation, which led to the suspect fleeing and subsequently crashing into other cars, as per FOX 5 Atlanta.
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the events began around 3:30 p.m. Thursday when a deputy pulled over a Silver Dodge Durango. However, the situation quickly escalated when the 16-year-old driver, a resident of Gainesville, sped away leading to a pursuit. The chase ended disastrously, as the teenage driver crashed into several vehicles and injured various individuals. One person remains hospitalized in serious condition, as confirmed by Channel 2 Action News.
Upon apprehending the suspect, deputies found a stolen firearm along with marijuana, THC, and LSD intended for distribution within the wreckage. The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is actively investigating the incident. Charges against the juvenile include reckless driving, felony fleeing and attempting to elude, speeding, theft by receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, underage possession of a pistol, possession of marijuana, THC, and LSD with the intent to distribute, possession of a drug-related object, and driving on limited permit, as detailed by officials from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
The identity of the young driver has not been released, in accordance with Georgia law, despite the slew of charges they face, which also include possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of THC with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule I (LSD) with intent to distribute, and possession of a drug-related object, reported Channel 2 Action News. After the major disruption, all lanes of Ga. 400 have since been reopened, and further charges are anticipated pending the ongoing investigation.
