An audacious security breach at an airport has led to an investigation after a Central Texas man allegedly boarded a Delta Airlines flight bound for Austin without a ticket, using a young girl's boarding pass. According to an affidavit obtained by KVUE, the accused, Wicliff Fleurizard, snuck onto the flight from Utah after he surreptitiously took photos of unsuspecting passengers' phones and boarding passes.

Fleurizard, who was later arrested for his actions, infiltrated Delta flight #1683 on March 17th. After getting past security, he was caught fiddling with emergency equipment storage before locking himself in the lavatory as other passengers took their seats. He emerged from the lavatory when the aircraft began to taxi, only to be confronted by a flight attendant as he had no seat, nor ticket to legitimize his presence. The legitimate passenger, a young girl, was already occupying the seat linked to the boarding pass that Fleurizard had used to get on board.

The authorities, who later reviewed footage from the airport's surveillance cameras, spotted Fleurizard photographing the young girl's boarding information and then using his phone to masquerade as a ticket-bearing passenger. In a statement provided to the investigating bodies, Fleurizard conceded he had made a mistake, claiming he was merely trying to return home after a snowboarding trip gone awry.

Further reporting by Gio Benitez of ABC News noted that the FBI is now involved in what is a glaring lapse in airport security. Fleurizard, who had attempted to fly standby on two Southwest flights that were fully booked, subsequently attempted his deceitful embarkation on a Delta plane. Delta Airlines has pledged its full cooperation to the ongoing investigation, which seeks to unravel, how such a brazen breach of security was made possible.
