Chaos erupted in a Northwest shop when armed robbers turned a mid-afternoon heist into a nightmare, resulting in a gunshot victim being hospitalized. The Metropolitan Police Department reported the gunmen demanded money and valuables from a business located at the 5100 block of Georgia Avenue on Wednesday. Despite compliance from the victims, one suspect pulled the trigger, seriously wounding an individual before they made off with their loot.
The incident took place at approximately 2:57 p.m., turning a regular business day upside down. The suspects, still at large, are said to have wielded handguns during the brazen robbery. According to a statement from the MPD, the suspects "demanded property and money" from the victims, who complied. Yet, in what seems to be a senseless act, a shot was fired.
The shot victim was rushed to a nearby hospital to treat serious injuries sustained during the ordeal. Authorities have yet to release detailed descriptions of the assailants, who fled the scene shortly after the shooting. The Fourth District detectives actively seek out the suspects involved in this crime.
Police are now scouring for any leads that could bring the perpetrators to justice and are calling on the public for assistance. Anyone with information regarding the robbery or the whereabouts of the suspects is urged to come forward.
