Gwinnett County's Roy Higgins, 28, has been nabbed by the cops after a near-year-long game of cat-and-mouse involving a slew of auto break-ins and thefts dating back to 2023, according to local authorities.
Apprehended during a routine traffic stop on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road on March 12, Higgins had been sought by detectives who've been hot on his trail since the crimes started popping up around Verner Road and Whitehead Place Drive. Per the report by FOX 5 Atlanta, a man's report on April 17 kickstarted the investigation, his vehicle broken into and his firearm lifted.
The spree went on rampage with reports flooding in from unincorporated Duluth and Lawrenceville, cluing in officers to the thieves' identities with store surveillance footage after they used stolen credit cards at a local Walmart. Following a previous arrest related to the same string of crimes, 27-year-old Bryan Hunt was taken into custody last June, found hiding at a Chalis Court residence.
Hunt was slapped with 13 counts of entering auto and 11 counts of financial transaction card fraud. Meanwhile, Higgins faces a mountain of charges: including but not limited to 10 counts of both entering auto and financial card fraud, carrying the additional burden of obstruction, theft by receiving stolen property and a sundry of drug offenses, as stated by Atlanta News First.
