Two teenagers found themselves on the wrong side of the law—and in a dire situation—after a series of car break-ins in Gwinnett County went south. At around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, the perpetrators' escape came to a crashing halt when one suspect was struck by a vehicle. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the incident unfolded after a security guard, alerted by the sound of breaking glass, discovered a Toyota Yaris vandalized with a shattered window. The suspects fled, and shortly after, a collision was heard.
Lying in the roadway with serious injuries, Caden Moss, an 18-year-old from Morrow, was found by the security guard—suspected of being involved in the break-ins. Officers who responded to the scene were soon accompanied by a wallet from one of the vehicles, reportedly found nearby. As reported by Atlanta News First, Moss was rushed to the hospital suffering from life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene, while Kahmari Dials, 19, was later apprehended without serious injury.
Both Moss and Dials are now facing charges of Entering Auto and Criminal Attempt to Commit Entering Auto. Surveillance footage revealed the two suspects attempting to break into the Toyota and a Dodge vehicle. After the security guard's intervention, the situation escalated, resulting in Moss's accident. Dials was taken into custody and booked into the Gwinnett County Jail, indicated by police records obtained by both media outlets.
The suspects are now caught up in the criminal justice system, waiting to face the consequences of their alleged actions. "In reviewing surveillance footage, two suspects could be seen breaking into the Toyota and attempting to break into a Dodge when the security guard disrupted them," Gwinnett County police stated in the narrative captured by Atlanta News First.
