The officers had to quickly write up a warrant, which a judge promptly approved, leading them to impound the car for 30 days. According to a post on the Hayward Police Department's Facebook page, sideshows are not only a hazard but are also illegal, and those caught engaging in such behavior could face fines, citations, arrest, and even lose their vehicles temporarily due to impoundment.
Hayward authorities were clear on their stance against such disruptive behavior, stating, "As a reminder, it is illegal to participate in or be a spectator at any sideshows in Hayward." They stressed the consequences of breaking the law, warning that offenders may face fines and citations and maybe even be arrested. In this recent case, the owner of the Cadillac was taught a hard lesson with the impoundment of their vehicle.
