A blaze broke out in a west Houston home early Sunday, leaving the homeowner injured and requiring hospital transport, as reported by the Houston Fire Department (HFD). The fire, which the Houston Fire Department first indicated had occurred near I-10 and Beltway 8 on Eddystone Drive on the social platform X, began before the city had shaken off the night's slumber, at approximately 7:50 a.m.

Authorities detailed that the individual was asleep in a rear room of the residence, only to be jolted awake by the encroaching smoke. With little time to spare, the resident managed to narrowly escape through a window, finding a perilous route to safety. Details regarding the severity of his injuries have not been disclosed, though he was transported by EMS to a local hospital, as affirmed by KHOU.
The fire predominately ravaged the living room, but HFD crews were able to contain it, preventing a broader disaster. As of now, the cause behind the blaze remains elusive, yet it is actively under investigation. While the civilian grapples with his harrowing ordeal, it is a silver lining that no firefighters were reported injured during the incident. This fact was corroborated by a statement posted on Houston Fire Department's X account, alongside their calls for the public to steer clear of the area to facilitate unhindered emergency operations.
HFD continues to work diligently, sifting through the charred remnants to unearth the origin of the conflagration. The affected homeowner, whose identity remains private, now must to start rebuild his life from the ashes of a Sunday morning that turned his world smoke-filled and dangerously hot.
