Chaos ensued on the outskirts of Houston when a suspected drunk driver, found napping in his car after crashing, decided to not go down without a fight. Cops say they've clapped cuffs on one Mario Rosado Cruz after a tussle that left an officer in pain and the suspect in jail on multiple charges.

On the evening of March 22, the officers of Constable Mark Herman's Office were called to a scene that could have been ripped straight from the pages of a routine traffic stop, complete with the slumbering suspect and the crumpled vehicle at N Sam Houston Parkway East. But this was to quickly take a volatile turn. The male became verbally combative and refused to follow commands given to him, according to a Facebook post by Precinct 4. As they worked to carefully extract him from his vehicle, he fought back, striking an officer hard enough to cause "pain."

A taser was used to subdue Cruz who, upon further investigation by deputies, appeared to be seriously intoxicated. Field sobriety tests seemingly confirmed the suspicion, with a reported blood alcohol content of 0.179 – over twice the legal limit. In addition to his inebriated state, it turned out Cruz was also wanted.

"Mario Rosado Cruz was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the open warrant and charged with Driving while intoxicated and Assault on a Police Officer. His bond was set at $7,600.00 out of the 263rd District Court and County Court 1.” Constable Mark Herman announced
