Houston police are probing a deadly car accident that took place at 400 East Little York Road on Saturday night, leaving one man dead and two others unharmed.
Around 8:20 p.m. on March 16, a collision occurred when a gray Ford Explorer hit a white Chevrolet Silverado 2500, as reported by law enforcement officials. The 63-year-old man behind the wheel of the Explorer, whose name has yet to be made public, pending family notification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, rear-ended the Silverado again after both drivers stopped to exchange details, according to a press release on the City of Houston website.
The crash's impact was severe enough to necessitate the attention of the Houston Fire Department paramedics, who took the Explorer's driver to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer N. Kumar of the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal encounter.
The 21-year-old male operator of the Chevy, along with a 48-year-old female passenger in the Ford Explorer were found to be without injury post-crash. The Houston police have not disclosed further details as the investigation is still ongoing, giving rise to questions about what provoked the Explorer's driver to strike the Silverado, not once, but twice. As reported on the City of Houston's official news outlet, no charges have been filed as of now.
