Houston authorities are intensifying their hunt for a gunman who callously took a life and left another person injured last October. The Houston Police Department circulated a surveillance video capturing a suspect in connection with the double shooting that occurred at 1100 Providence Street. The incident, which unfolded in the early hours, resulted in the tragic death of 24-year-old Zayden Kimple and left another male, aged 21, with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the video released, the suspect is a black male, standing at about 6 feet with a thin build, marked with tattoos covering his chest and arms. Police have shared footage wherein he appears to be wearing a black hooded jacket, gray sweatpants, and a white tank top. Police urge anyone with information to step forward.
City of Houston News reported that the conflict arose during a warehouse party when Kimple was allegedly attempting to retrieve property that had been stolen from him. The HPD Homicide Division, represented by Detectives J. Caten and M. Barrow, stated that the situation escalated quickly, resulting in Kimple being fatally shot and the second victim sustaining injuries.
The second victim, who has not been named, was quickly transported to an area hospital where he was treated for his wounds. He was fortunate enough to be released shortly thereafter, leaving behind a harrowing tale that could easily have ended much differently. As investigations diligently continue to unfold, law enforcement is increasingly hopeful that the released footage and public assistance will aid in definitively unmasking the perpetrator responsible for this heinous crime.
Police are diligently seeking more leads and are encouraging anyone with information on the suspect's identity in the surveillance video to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600. Community members who wish to remain anonymous may convey their tips through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
