
Houston police are in the midst of a probe or a deadly car wreck that occurred early Sunday on the Katy Freeway, leaving one person dead and sending another to the hospital. The tragedy struck at the 15000 block of the freeway's service road around 4:05 a.m.
According to an official statement released by the Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division, a gray Volkswagen Jetta was maneuvering westbound when it took the Park Ten Boulevard exit and careened off-course. The car went rogue, slamming into several road signs before a final, lethal encounter with a concrete pillar.
The force of the collision was such that the vehicle burst into flames, an inferno that, once put out by Houston firefighters, revealed the driver had not survived the ordeal. The identity, gender, and age of the victim remain unconfirmed, awaiting verification from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Surviving the initial impact, a 20-year-old male passenger was whisked away to an area hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The investigation into a circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing, with Sgt. D. Griffiths and Officer C.
