Huntington Beach was rocked by gunfire Wednesday night after a man was shot near Murdy Park, resulting in a swift response by local authorities and the eventual arrest of a suspect.
The Los Angeles Times reports that calls came flooding into the police at around 8:30 p.m. regarding the shooting at Sabot Lane and Maddox Drive. Arriving officers discovered a man with gunshot wounds that, thankfully, were deemed non-life-threatening before whisking him away to a hospital. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, apparently could not recognize his assailant.
Police spokeswoman Jessica Cuchilla disclosed Thursday that “The victim did not know the suspect.” Officers and detectives who arrived on the scene quickly cordoned off the area, hunting leads that would point to the shooter's identity.
Through diligent investigation, 27-year-old Taylor Cosner, a resident of Huntington Beach, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. How detectives pinned down Cosner has yet, to be disclosed, and there’s no word on whether the weapon has been retrieved. However, authorities believe a male, out for a stroll with his dog at the time might have witnessed the act and could shine a light on events that unfolded.
