The Huntington Beach Police Department is sending a clear message to would-be thieves: crime doesn't pay in their city. According to a post on the department's official Facebook page, a man with a history of theft was recently nabbed after lifting goods from a retail establishment. Cops were waiting outside as he strolled out sans payment, promptly placing him under arrest and recovering the items.
HBPD showcased another victory over crime in the very same social media update, revealing an organized crew that hit a CVS. The group filched merchandise and dashed to a getaway van, but the quick-footed officers located, and apprehended the group. Over $3,000 worth of stolen goods found its way back to its rightful owner.
"Here’s a friendly tip: if you’re considering a career in crime, follow us on social media to learn why it doesn’t pay to steal in HB," the department cheekily advises on its Facebook post. HBPD's swift response to theft attempts sends a stern warning to those considering pilfering from local businesses or residents.
With such recent successes in thwarting theft, HBPD confidently reminds potential criminals of the hospitality awaiting them behind bars, saying, "we have a comfy spot in our jail with your name on it." The department encouraged potential offenders to reconsider their actions before becoming their "next guest."
