A tragic incident unfolded early Monday morning in Huntington Beach, leaving a local woman dead after being struck by a vehicle. The 57-year-old was hit around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Heil Avenue and Bradbury Lane, police confirmed. According to CBS News, a white 2014 Mazda 6, driven by a 61-year-old man also from Huntington Beach, collided with the pedestrian who was not in a crosswalk at the time.

Remaining at the scene, the driver fully cooperated with law enforcement officers. Police have not suspected impairment on his part as a factor, alcohol or drugs were not considered contributors to the crash. It was reported by The Los Angeles Times that the woman may have been attending to ducks in the roadway at the time she was struck.

Authorities found the woman already deceased in the roadway. The involved section of Heil Avenue was described as just west of Bradbury Lane, where the Mazda was traveling westbound.

A second vehicle, a white SUV, might also be linked to the accident, as mentioned by police. While the involvement remains unclear, the curious presence of this second car opens yet another avenue that investigators are exploring. Those who witnessed the collision or any events leading up to the incident can reach out to HBPD Traffic Investigator C. Houlston at (714) 536-5670, the HBPD has encouraged.
