In Irvine, California, a man's version of romance has landed him on the Irvine Police Department's radar. The suspect allegedly made off with a woman's wallet and credit cards during her February 17 shopping trip to Home Goods. The Irvine PD took to their social media for #WANTEDWEDNESDAY to share images of the man accused of charging gift cards, flowers, and water on the stolen credit.
The department's post on Facebook showed the alleged thief, in a bid to possibly impress someone special, flagrantly using the victim's credit card, making the unfortunate connection between theft and affection. Irvine PD is appealing to the public to help identify the suspect, advising anyone with information to reach out to Detective Truong at [email protected].
"Nothing says, 'I love you,' like buying flowers with a stolen credit card," the Irvine PD post quipped. The actions of this 'real-life Romeo' were documented shortly after the theft, and facial recognition might just be the thorn in his side.
Authorities have expressed that identifying this individual is essential in sending a clear signal to potential offenders—that the Irvine community stands together against such transgressions. The police department hopes that public vigilance will help to swiftly bring the man in question to justice. Those with any information are encouraged to kindly step forward, as this cooperative effort between law enforcement and civilians aims to maintain the city's safety and integrity.
