Yesterday, a young rider learned a hard lesson about the importance of securing personal property when his E-bike was swiped right outside a Woodbridge store. It didn't take long for an 18-year-old to spot the unlocked electric conveyance and seize the opportunity, taking off with the bike moments after the owner had left it unattended. In a social media post, the Irvine Police Department laid out the sequence of events leading to both the theft and the subsequent recovery of the E-bike.
No sooner had the theft been reported than an Irvine officer leaped into action, proving the department's commitment to protect and serve; this diligent officer reviewed the surveillance footage from the store, determined to rectify the situation, after which he scoured the area and incredible as it seems, found the suspect cruising along on the stolen E-bike near East Yale Loop and the Creek Trail, according to a statement obtained by the Irvine Police Department.
The quick work of the Irvine PD resulted in the arrest of the suspect and thanks to the felony charge brought upon by the value of the E-bike, the thief is now facing serious consequences. The suspect was promptly ferried off to Orange County Jail, bringing a swift end to his short-lived crime spree.
