A Jurupa Valley local was slapped with charges after allegedly attacking two women in Home Gardens, police said. Alexander Armenta, 45, stands accused of two counts of attempted rape following his Sunday evening arrest.
The Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station deputies dashed to the 3700 block of Harvill Lane in the unincorporated area of Corona at 5:42 p.m. after reports surfaced of females pleading for help. Their investigation led to the identification of the two female victims and the swift detention of suspect Armenta. He was hauled to the Robert Presley Detention Center, according to a Riverside Sheriff's Office statement.
While details regarding how the assault occurred are still sparse, the case remains under active investigation. Law enforcement is urging anyone with information about the incident to reach out to Investigator John Negrete at the Lake Mathews Station.
Those with knowledge that could aid the case are encouraged to dial 951-272-5600. The sheriff’s department has not disclosed the conditions of the two victims nor the circumstances leading up to the assault.
