The streets of Oakland witnessed a grim moment in early January that has now given way to an arrest. A juvenile has been brought into custody in connection with the January 6th homicide of Maged Alazzani, the Oakland Police Department announced, following a shooting that shook the 2900 block of Linden Street. Charged by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, the minor's arrest on February 27, was the result of determined police work by the OPD's Homicide Section, Robbery Unit, and Patrol. This breakthrough underscores the department's commitment to addressing the spike in violence this corner of the city has endured.
In a statement obtained by the OPD's official Facebook account, the department communicated that after receiving a call just before 8:15 PM on the evening of the incident, their officers descended on the scene in search of answers. Surrounded by the remnants of violence, they discovered that the victim had managed to transport himself to a local hospital, where he bade the world farewell, pronounced dead by those serving the Hippocratic oath. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident, closing in on him after lengthy investigations.
The gravity of this case is reflected in the collaborative effort expended toward the apprehension of the suspect. Seeking to alleviate the community's rising concern for their safety, the OPD pleads with the public for any additional information. Potential witnesses or individuals withholding knowledge are urged to come forward and assist by contacting the OPD Homicide Section — their collaboration being a potential linchpin in solidifying the case against the accused party.
