A vengeful ex-girlfriend and her posse turned a Lakewood home into a tear-inducing warzone, liberally dousing the residence with bear spray, according to local authorities. The Lakewood Sheriff’s Station reported that they were called to a home on the 5600 block of Bellflower Boulevard to investigate an act of vandalism that turned violent. The group of assailants, which included the revenge-seeking woman, were said to have smashed the home's windows before unleashing the acidic contents of bear spray inside, NBC Los Angeles reported.

The homeowners have been forced to temporarily take refuge in a hotel because of the attack, which has rendered many of their possessions unsalvageable. Jessica Watts, a resident of the targeted home, revealed the extent of the havoc wrought by the attackers in a statement obtained by NBC Los Angeles. "Everything's gone," lamented Watts. "I have to replace it. My baby needs these (items) every day." The bear spray not only damaged property but also threatened the well-being of an 85-year-old man, children, and pets present at the time of the assault. In the face of such ruthless disregard for safety, it's noteworthy that, so far, no injuries have been directly linked to the vandalism.

Further details of the attack were shared by Jessica Watts in an interview with FOX LA, where she recounted the terror of encountering the invaders. "I’m in the bathroom just dyeing my hair and all of a sudden I have people in my house," Watts said. The assault reportedly did not spare anyone; the elderly man along with Watts's 11-year-old son and her 18-month-old baby boy, who were also targeted by the bear spray.

Another witness, Krista Zink, who had been asleep before the group broke in, described the feeling of being hit with the chemical spray. "It [was] horrible," Zink told FOX LA. "It burns. It burns very badly. It's not fun." The night's harrowing events left the targeted family reeling, with normalcy torn asunder by an ex-flame's apparent vendetta. Among those accused is the ex-girlfriend of Watts's boyfriend, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the brutal break-in. As the investigation unfolds, law enforcement has yet to apprehend any of the perpetrators involved in the bear spray attack.
