A fatal hit-and-run in Studio City has the LAPD on the hunt for a red sedan driver responsible for the death of a pedestrian earlier this month. According to LAPD Newsroom, the collision occurred on February 7, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Ventura Boulevard near Fruitland Drive.
The unidentified female victim said to be white and in her 30s, was crossing the street when the red sedan hit her and failed to stop. The driver, instead, continued westbound on Ventura Boulevard, neglecting their legal obligation to aid the pedestrian or await authorities. The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
LAPD Valley Traffic Detectives are spearheading the investigation and have issued a public appeal to help track down the driver involved in the hit-and-run. They have urged anyone who may have been in the proximity of Ventura Boulevard and Fruitland Drive on the evening of the tragedy to come forward with information.
The LAPD has also taken this opportunity to remind drivers that in the event of a collision, they are required to pull over and remain at the scene. Pedestrians, on the other hand, are being reminded of the importance of crossing streets carefully and adhering to all traffic regulations for their safety. To incentivize witnesses, the city has offered a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads directly to the arrest, and conviction of the driver, as part of the Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund established on April 15, 2015.
Those with any leads are encouraged to contact Valley Traffic Division Officer Reyes at (818) 644-8114 or Detective Ortega at (818) 644-8035. The LAPD also provided numbers for anonymous tips through 1-877-LAPD-24-7 and the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, as well as the option to download the “P3 Tips” mobile app for reporting anonymously.
