Chaos erupted in the quiet community of Rancho Cucamonga when a night out turned near-deadly. Early on March 16, deputies rushed to the scene of a shooting at 4th & Mill Bar and Grill, where they found a person felled by a bullet, their blood spilling onto the tarmac of an otherwise mundane parking lot. The victim, whose identity has been withheld, was swiftly transported to the hospital, and their current state remains under wraps.
The alleged gunman, identified as Dylan Holsey, hailing from Las Vegas, didn't manage to get far. In a coordinated take-down, less than 12 hours after a trigger was pulled, Holsey's getaway was cut short on the 15 Freeway by the Barstow Sheriff's deputies and the California Highway Patrol. Riding shotgun was Kenecka Jones of Los Angeles, also taken into custody. The pair are now facing charges of attempted murder and accessory to the crime, respectively, as reported by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.
Both suspects were booked at the West Valley Detention Center, with Holsey looking down the barrel of a PC664/187—Attempted Murder charge, and Jones snagging a PC32—Accessory to Attempted Murder to add to her rap sheet. The Sheriff's Department has confirmed that these two were the only parties involved in the unfortunate series of events that unfolded in the quiet of that early morning. Calls for more information have been met with an appeal for community cooperation, echoing out to anyone who might offer the smallest detail that could complete the picture of that fateful night.
As the investigation continues, the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station is open to tips, while offering anonymity to those who seek it when calling into We-Tip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463). The community now watches, waits, and hopes for a resolution that will restore the peace so rudely interrupted by violence's sudden intrusion into their lives.
