Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department have made significant headway in a murder case that shook the North Hollywood community last October. A group of individuals tied to two separate shootings have been arrested, the LAPD revealed in a press release. The LAPD Newsroom detailed the capture of four suspects linked to a deadly drive-by and an attempted murder.

The breakthrough in the case allowed officers to quickly locate and arrest the suspects on March 15, and the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office has since filed an array of charges including murder and attempted murder. Tipped off by witness and surveillance footage dated back to October 27, 2023, the suspects were seen in a light-colored SUV firing at a group of people in Sun Valley, resulting in one fatality and leaving another in stable condition. "Detectives worked tirelessly to unearth evidence in both cases," states the LAPD Newsroom brief.

The accused are identified as 18-year-old Rey Conrado and Fredy Ruiz, and a 17-year-old male, all from North Hollywood, along with 27-year-old Steve Paz. Conrado, the 17-year-old whose name has not been released due to his age, and Paz face murder charges, while Ruiz and Paz also face attempted murder charges. The suspects remain in custody without bail, and recovered evidence includes one pistol and several gun parts.

The LAPD urges anyone with further information about the incidents to come forward. "Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact OVB Homicide at Detective Sadeh or Detective Lopez at 818-374-9550," the original report lists. Calls during non-business hours or weekends should be directed to (310) 726-7700 or 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247). Anonymous tips can to be submitted to LA Regional Crime Stoppers online or through their "P3 Tips" mobile application.
