A two-story home in Studio City went up in flames in an alarming blaze that stretched into the early morning. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the incident at 3265 N Oakdell Ln at about 3:57 a.m., according to a LAFD alert. The fire was intense in the rear of the house, aggressively spreading into the attic, which prompted firefighters to engage in an offensive mode to combat the escalating situation.
Upon arrival, fire crews were met with a 6,650 sq-ft residence, constructed back in 1971, that was being ravaged by heavy fire. Firefighters worked swiftly to confirm that all occupants had managed to safely leave the premises before the fire could trap them inside. As the fire continued its relentless burn, structural stability was compromised, forcing crews to pull back and to adopt a defensive approach instead. A roof collapse further intensified the challenges faced by the LAFD. It ultimately took 94 firefighters, working tirelessly, 2 hours and 16 minutes to finally access, contain, and knock down the stubborn flames. This information was detailed in a subsequent LAFD update.
The fire inflicted injuries to one firefighter who was transported in what was reported as fair condition. Additionally, one occupant was treated for minor smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire remains under active investigation, as fire officials are working to piece together the events that led up to the calamity. Captain Adam Van Gerpen, a Public Information Officer, was en route with an expected arrival time of 7:00 a.m. to provide further updates on the incidents unfolding.
The local community and passing motorists watched as the home succumbed to the roaring fire, which illuminated the pre-dawn sky. The LAFD has not yet provided details on the specific cause of the incident, but they have assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to properly determine it. More information will likely be released following Captain Van Gerpen's assessment of the situation.
