
Firefighters in Boyle Heights battled a blaze late last night at a two-story commercial building, successfully extinguishing the fire in just over half an hour. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident was located at 3051 E Wabash Ave, where a coin laundry and residential area on the second floor were engulfed in flames. The fire alert was issued at 11:57 PM on March 23rd, 2024.
The LAFD deployed 72 personnel who worked swiftly to access, confine, and put out the fire within a commercial structure measuring 75 by 100 feet. Their swift action contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to adjacent buildings. LAFD's alert detailed the events, stating, "72 Firefighters took just 32 minutes (12:29 AM) to access, confine and extinguish fire within a 75' x 100' two-story commercial building containing a coin laundry and second floor living area."
During the firefighting operation, crews managed to rescue an adult male and a dog from the flames. Additionally, one other civilian was medically evaluated at the scene. Despite the potential harm, both individuals declined medical care post-evaluation. As of now, the cause of the fire is under active investigation by officials. The LAFD has not released further details on the origin or potential causes as inquiries continue.
