Commuters in Flint and surrounding areas might want to plan an alternate route this week. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced a series of ramp closures in mid-Michigan to facilitate maintenance work. According to WJRT, the eastbound I-69 ramp to northbound I-75 will be out of commission this Wednesday, March 13, starting from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The closures don't stop there, however. Both southbound and northbound I-475 ramps to eastbound I-69 are also slated for temporary closure. These ramps will be closed on Friday, March 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., as pointed out by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). The reason behind these disruptions is stated as necessary guardrail and light pole repairs.
The affected interchange ramps are in the vicinity of Flint, a vital area for local and through traffic. These shutdowns, while temporary, may pose a significant inconvenience to drivers who regularly traverse these routes. MDOT has emphasized the importance of these closures, stating that they will "allow crews to safely work on repairing guardrails and light poles in this area."
While the repairs are a necessary evil for ensuring driver safety, local commuters may need to seek alternative routes or adjust their travel times to avoid the expected congestion. The work is estimated to wrap up by the end of the week, hopefully providing smoother and safer travels thereafter. For real-time updates on these closures and traffic conditions, MDOT encourages drivers to keep an ear to local news or check online resources for the latest information.
