Milton Fire CARES is set to hold another free public CPR training class this month due to high demand from the community. Unfortunately for those who didn't quickly jump on the opportunity, the class has already reached its maximum capacity and is no longer accepting new registrations, according to an update provided by the City of Milton's official website. However, the fire department reassures that more free classes are on the horizon, asking interested parties to "Stay tuned for details on those."

For those lucky enough to secure a spot in the upcoming session, the class will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, inside Fire Station 43 located at 750 Hickory Flat Road. With space at a premium, the original announcement on the City of Milton's news page set the attendance cap at 18 participants and specifically noted that walk-ins on the day of the training would not be able to quickly join in on the life-saving lessons.

This course aims to thoroughly equip attendees with the necessary skills to administer hands-only CPR, effectively operate an AED (automated external defibrillator), and act in situations where someone is choking. While the course won't provide an American Red Cross or American Heart Association certification, participants will receive an acknowledgement of completion. As the importance of immediate emergency response is crucial—with the American Heart Association's estimates suggesting CPR can significantly increase chances of survival—the training provided by Milton Fire CARES is a vital community service.

Complementing their educational initiatives, the Milton Fire-Rescue Department has recently rolled out the PulsePoint program. This innovative effort is designed to swiftly connect certified citizens to incidents of cardiac arrest in their vicinity, also directing them to the nearest AED available. More information about PulsePoint can be found at www.miltonga.gov/PulsePoint, or by downloading the PulsePoint Respond app. Through initiatives like this one, Milton Fire CARES, part of the City's Fire Department, continues to advance medical services and education in the Milton area.
