Busted out your red, white, and blue gear, it's time to celebrate the Fourth of July in Downtown Minneapolis with a boom! After a pandemic-induced hiatus and a couple of years of smaller, spread-out events, the "Red, White and Boom!" fireworks extravaganza is making a dazzling return to the riverfront this summer. Folks can get ready to stake out their spots on the west side of the river at Water Works and the Stone Arch Bridge parking lot starting at 6 pm, July 4.

According to a recent bulletin from the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB), attendees can expect to not only be delighted by the pyrotechnics but also get to enjoy an evening filled with live music and food truck cuisine before fireworks light up the sky at 10 pm. This is a comeback many have been eagerly awaiting. "People love Fourth of July fireworks on the Downtown Minneapolis riverfront," MPRB Superintendent Al Bangoura said in a statement. He added, "We heard that from communities we serve, partners we work with, and our own staff, so we’re excited to bring back this beloved tradition."

While the city's skyline will be illuminated with festive colors, visitors should note that the Stone Arch Bridge will be a no-go zone. The iconic structure will be closed due to a repair project overseen by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDOT). To know more about the bridge's revamp, apparently, MNDOT is going to host a virtual meeting for the public on March 19, where details can be hashed out from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

If you're a business looking to generate some serious exposure, hitch a ride on this patriotic bandwagon. The MPRB is currently on the lookout for sponsors to grace the event. This opportunity will not just put you in front of tens of thousands of happy Minneapolitans but will also be a way to support a cherished local festivity. Four years of waiting is no joke, but it sure seems like the 2024 "Red, White and Boom!" will be more than just a regular fireworks show. It's a full-blown all-American comeback. And by golly, Minneapolis seems ready to party like it's 1776!
