Bad weather has forced the postponement of a key community meeting intended to discuss the future of the Upper Harbor project in north Minneapolis. Originally set for March, the meeting is now scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, giving stakeholders a chance to reconvene and review new developments, according to the City of Minneapolis.
The City, alongside development titan United Properties, is set to unveil updates on the project's progress this year, notably the creation of a health and wellness hub. The gathering will also serve as a platform for residents to actively give feedback on such proposals. Poised to reinvigorate the area between Washington Avenue and the Mississippi River, Upper Harbor aims to introduce not only residential and workspaces but also a 20-acre riverside park and a cultural lynchpin—a community performing arts center.
Improvements by the City have been steadily materializing, with street construction anticipated to be completed by the end of this spring, signaling an advancement of the project's momentum. A significant milestone was achieved recently when the City transferred land ownership to the Park Board, effectively laying the groundwork for the upcoming work on the Upper Harbor Regional Park, the City's announcement detailed.
Residents who are eager to get involved or to simply stay informed on the transformative changes brewing in their neighborhood are encouraged to attend the meeting. The session is to happen from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC) located at 2001 Plymouth Ave. N.
