The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department announced that Emily Pickens, who had been reported missing, has been found safe. Pickens, a 36-year-old woman who was described as at-risk due to her dependence on medication for bipolar disorder, was reportedly last seen on the evening of March 10 on Ahmann Avenue in Whittier.
In a swift response to the initial call for public assistance, the combined efforts of community members, media, and law enforcement led to a positive outcome. "Thank you to the public, the media, and deputy personnel for their tireless efforts in the search for Ms. Pickens," said the Sheriff's Information Bureau in an update. The statement did not include details on Pickens' condition or where she was found.
Before she was located, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Missing Persons Unit released a description of Emily Pickens, stating she was a white female, standing 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 224 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. Her last known outfit included a black shirt, a blue denim jacket, and blue jeans.
The concern for Pickens' well-being was heightened due to her diagnosis and reliance on medication for bipolar disorder. An appeal for public aid had underscored this, appealing to anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts to come forward. The authorities provided several avenues for tips, including the "Crime Stoppers" hotline and the "P3 Tips" mobile app, encouraging anonymous reporting.
