Three teenagers from Southeast, D.C., have been nabbed by authorities in a series of violent carjackings and robberies plaguing the community. As reported by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) on Thursday, the suspects, aged between 13 and 14, are linked to a disturbing spree of gunpoint thefts that's kept local residents on high alert.

The trio's latest escapade unfolded on February 19, when they allegedly terrorized a man sitting in his car on the 3200 block of Buena Vista Terrace, Southeast. According to MPD's press release, two of the teens held the man at gunpoint, while the third joined in, assaulting the unsuspecting victim before hijacking his vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Their criminal exploits continued on March 2, hovering over an individual on the 5200 block of Just Street, Northeast. Four suspects, presumably including the arrested teens, robbed the man at gunpoint, later disappearing with his car, detailed the MPD.

Two of the suspects didn't stop there, having additionally accosted a woman awaiting customers in her vehicle on the 3000 block of 30th Street, Southeast. They forced their way into her car and assaulted her, and the victim managed to escape on foot while the suspects took off in her car, as the authorities shared. Another violent encounter that same evening involved a woman on Sheriff Road, Northeast, who was attacked and robbed at gunpoint by three of the youths.

Following the incidents, MPD's Carjacking Task Force took the young suspects into custody on Wednesday, March 6. The 14-year-old male, alongside one of the 13-year-olds, are facing additional charges for their part in the other criminal offenses. The meticulous efforts of the task force bring some respite to an unsettled community, though investigations into these cases are ongoing.
