
The Metropolitan Police Department is calling on the public to assist in the manhunt for a bank robber who struck in broad daylight in the heart of Northwest DC.
According to the MPD, the bank heist occurred on the morning of Tuesday, February 6, when a suspect made a bold move against a teller at a bank positioned on the 1700 block of K Street. The perpetrator, who concealed his weapon but intimated the possession of one, commanded the teller to hand over the cash. The employee left with no recourse, complied, and the thief made a clean getaway with an undisclosed amount of loot.
The MPD, desperate to close the case, has since released video footage of the suspect in the hopes that citizens might come forward with vital information. The video, which captures the suspect's movements within the bank, has been made available on the Metropolitan Police Department's official website.
This robbery, while devoid of violence, has nonetheless rattled the employees and, stoked anxieties about safety in the supposed sanctity of their work environment. The suspect's description and other pertinent details of the crime remain scant, as the authorities continue to piece together the narrative from that morning's events. However, they are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the capture of the suspect.
The Second District's detectives are spearheading the investigation and are accepting tips at their line. The MPD has assured that all assistance will be welcome in their effort to apprehend the individual who dared to disrupt the peace of the city's financial establishments.
