The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for swathes of southwest North Carolina, east Tennessee, and southwest Virginia. The warning comes as temperatures are expected to plummet tonight, reaching into the 30s with possible patches of frost forming in the colder hours.

Residents and local authorities are on alert for potential severe thunderstorms forecasted to hit the Tennessee Valley region on Tuesday. According to the outlook, these storms could necessitate reports from weather spotters, credited for their crucial role in providing on-ground weather details.

In the interim, the weather is set to offer a rather pleasant respite. Today's skies are expected to clear, gradually becoming sunny with a high near 61 degrees, and with a north wind blowing at 5 to 10 mph. As nighttime falls, clear skies will continue, and temperatures will descend to around 38 degrees. The outlook indicates a shift in the wind from north to southwest post-midnight.

The following days are slated to bring sunshine and a gradual rise in temperatures. On Friday, a sunny high near 68 is anticipated, with similar wind conditions. The weather for Saturday promises sunny skies as well, with a brisk southwest wind of 10 to 20 mph, and gusts potentially hitting 30 mph. Enjoying partly cloudy conditions, Saturday night temperatures are expected to hover around 56 degrees.

The buildup to the anticipated storms will see mostly cloudy skies starting Sunday night that will extend into the beginning of the week. By Monday night, there’s a 50 percent chance of showers after 9 pm. The odds of precipitation jump to 70 percent on Tuesday when showers and a possible thunderstorm are likely, with "mostly cloudy" conditions and continuing breezy weather.

Ahead of the severe weather risks, the public should remain vigilant and follow updates from the NWS. With potential for weather-related disruptions, the community is advised to stay informed on the evolving conditions, especially those living in areas prone to the harsher effects of the forecasted storms.
