New Orleans-Style Shaved Ice Hits Missouri City with SnoDreamz Café's Latest ExpansionSource: Google Street View

Chilling winds might still whip through Missouri City streets, but residents now have a new way to beat the heat, all year round. The family-owned SnoDreamz café, which churns out New Orleans-style shaved ice, has opened a fresh location, expanding their sweet empire into the heart of Missouri. Featuring a slew of decadent treats ranging from snowy concoctions to fried Oreos, the café offers a taste of Crescent City charm right in Houston’s backyard.

After setting up shop at the start of March, the new SnoDreamz has become a hotspot for fans of shaved ice, sprinkled with a dash of Southern hospitality. Bringing the bold flavors and vibrant spirit of New Orleans to Missouri City was a strategic move for owners Crystal and Andy Ikeakor, who saw potential in the local community. Crystal Ikeakor told the Houston Chronicle, "Missouri City is a growing community filled with welcoming and supportive residents, making it an ideal place for us to expand our business."

The new establishment, situated at 1731 Texas Parkway, doesn’t just stick to icy treats. In a bid to satisfy Texas's ever-changing palate, an array of savory snacks and sweet treats complement the menu. In addition to their signature frozen specialties, customers can indulge in wings, street tacos, and fried delights, perfect for any weather, according to a statement obtained by Community Impact.

Roots of this chill venture run deep. The Ikeakors are building on a 14-year legacy that started after Hurricane Katrina when an influx of New Orleanians settled in Houston. Honoring the heritage of Crystal’s mother, the first SnoDreamz provided a delicious link to home for those far from the Bayou. According to Crystal, "My parents saw an opportunity to bring a taste of New Orleans to our community through our snowcone business," in an email cited by Community Impact. With the new location already ice-blitzing its way through the community, Missouri City residents can expect a chill vibe and a friendly atmosphere, a testament to the SnoDreamz's commitment to quality and community.

The third SnoDreamz outpost boasts a 1,500 square-foot space with seating for 12 and employs a team of 11. From the classic sweetened condensed milk-topped shaved ice to more outlandish toppings like chopped pickles and Warhead spray, this café brings a unique twist to traditional snow cones. And the crowd-pulling power of the SnoDreamz brand isn't waning—lines out the door during peak season at other locations are a sweet indicator of this icy empire's success.
