A Northeast D.C. man has found himself behind bars after his alleged involvement in a late-night shooting last month. According to Metropolitan Police Department reports, the incident took place in the early hours of February 28, when a male victim faced a harrowing encounter on the 1300 block of Okie Street NE.

The victim was walking when an assailant emerged from a vehicle and demanded his belongings, upon refusing and attempting escape, he was shot, suffering non-life-threatening injuries and afterwards he was rushed to the hospital, as the Metropolitan Police stated. Two days ago, MPD detectives managed to close in on a suspect, 34-year-old Jaymario Kirksey, charging him with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.

Kirksey, reportedly a resident of Northeast D.C., was apprehended on March 27, his arrest uncovering further criminal activity. At the time he was caught, not only was he found with a firearm, but he was also handling a stolen vehicle - adding Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Carrying a Pistol Without a License to his charge sheet, the police department detailed.
