
A grisly scene unfolded in northwest Austin Friday night when a two-vehicle crash left one person dead and another seriously injured. The fatal incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. in the 6400 block of North Capital of Texas Highway, an area close to Champion Grandview Way, as reported by KXAN.
Emergency personnel rushed to the crash site upon receiving the call at 9:35 p.m., according to details from a CBS Austin report. Coming on the scene, the medics worked to free an adult pinned in one of the vehicles, immediately performing CPR on them. In the end, however, the trapped victim was pronounced dead on the spot, Austin-Travis County EMS relayed.

Another adult, suffering serious injuries from the wreck, was transported to St. David's South for further medical treatment, as per a statement obtained by KXAN. The extent of the injuries and the current state of the survivor were not immediately clear following the accident.
In the meanwhile, the Austin-Travis County EMS warned commuters of "extended traffic closures" due to the crash's aftermath, an important note for travelers that night. At the heart of the wreck's cause, remains a mystery under investigation, with officials digging into the circumstances that led to the tragic event.
