The 2024-25 budget proposal, reflective of the Shapiro Administration's dedication to the state's students, marks a historic investment increase for education with nearly $1.1 billion additional funds for basic education. This proposal also includes a $300 million allotment for environmental repairs in schools, $100 million for mental health services, and $50 million each for special education and school safety improvements. Furthermore, a $30 million investment aims to bolster the educator workforce.

At the PDE Data Summit, officials highlighted how data collection shaped the state education policies and budget allocations. Governor Josh Shapiro has leaned on data to maintain the universal free breakfast program with an extra $16.7 million injection, and to reform higher education governance structures because of Pennsylvania's low rankings in higher education investment and affordability.

Informing the conference's theme, “A World of Opportunities: See Where Data Can Take You”, the summit gathered educators and leaders for a chance to engage with school data. Over three days, attendees learned through keynote addresses and breakout sessions on topics such as data governance, school improvement strategies, and the incorporation of social and emotional learning into education plans.
