A carjacking terror on the quiet streets of Perris ended with a suspect behind bars, authorities said. Eighteen-year-old Martin Plascencia, a local of Perris, was cuffed by the Robbery Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) on charges of robbery and carjacking after a victim was reportedly threatened at knifepoint and stripped of their vehicle late Wednesday evening, as reported by the Riverside County Sheriff.

The victim arrived on Stoneybrook Way x Wildwood Lane for a meet-up with Plascencia, only to be ambushed. The victim, while parked on Wildwood Lane, was confronted by the suspect and two accomplices. The trio armed with knives, commandeered the victim’s wheels after forcing him to hand over his wallet and phone. The stolen ride was later found abandoned near Orange Avenue and Foothill Avenue.

The official report posted by Sergeant Dave Tinker details the RBST's investigation that led them to Plascencia's doorstep. A calculated raid Thursday morning, backed by search warrants at two residences on Wildwood Lane, turned up evidence tying the suspect to the crime. Plascencia was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center, as per the Riverside County Sheriff.

While the prime suspect is now in custody, the hunt continues for the two remaining perps. The local sheriff’s office is elbow deep in an investigation that remains active, as the other participants in the carjacking still elude capture. Law enforcement urges anyone with a sliver of information to step forward and contact RBST Deputy Ramirez via the sheriff’s dispatch or directly at the Perris Station.
