A grim scene unfolded in Travis County on Thursday as a woman lost her life in a brutal collision with a truck tractor on SH 130. Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that a Honda passenger vehicle, operated by the female driver, veered off the road, only to crash back onto the southbound lanes and collide with a large truck.
The tragic incident occurred south of Cameron Road in Pflugerville, Texas. Authorities were dispatched to the scene around 2:12 in the afternoon where, according to CBS Austin, they found the wreckage had already taken a life. The details surrounding why the driver suddenly lost control remain unclear as DPS continues to thoroughly investigate the scene.
Traffic delays have severely impacted the area, with the southbound direction of SH 130 expected to be shut down for hours as per the reports from local authorities. The Pflugerville Police Department, along with other emergency services, responded swiftly to the call. FOX 7 Austin reports the female driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, fortunately, did not sustain any injuries during the crash.
The aftermath of the collision has choked traffic, leading to a significant buildup of vehicles stretching "well into the city on the toll," Pflugerville PD pointed out.
