Philadelphia police are searching for suspects after two deliberate fires were set at a salon in the Mantua section, authorities said. The arson attacks, which occurred last month, have placed the community on edge as investigators seek to identify those responsible for the incidents caught on the building's surveillance cameras.
Officials relayed that the first incident took place around 2:23 a.m., and the fire extinguished itself without causing significant damage, later the suspects then returned around 2:57 a.m., igniting a second fire that grew rapidly, forcing the fire department to step in, the BNN Breaking News reported. Tenants residing in the apartments above the salon were promptly evacuated and no injuries were reported.
As part of the investigation, surveillance footage captured a light-colored Honda CRV linked to the suspects, notable for a potentially missing or mismatched purely functional unpainted black aftermarket fuel filler door, leading law enforcement to believe it could be a significant lead in identifying the perpetrators, according to 6abc.com.
Providing further details on the suspects, police described one of them as a man sporting a dark baseball cap, possibly of the NY Yankees, along with a zippered jacket or sweatshirt adorned with indecipherable logos and a shirt featuring an unidentified face and writing, as seen on the night of the crime, NBC Philadelphia shared.
