In a troubling twist to the case, 6abc reports that the accused allegedly used CashApp, a mobile payment service, as a means to transfer money to the teenager under the guise of helping her buy food. It was after this transaction that Fields is said to have sought explicit photos and further sexual favors in exchange for more money. His strategy unraveled when a fellow student, having caught wind of the arrangement, alerted a counselor who subsequently contacted the Philadelphia Police SVU.
The School District of Philadelphia issued a statement outlining the support available for students and their families during this distressing time.
