A Plano man has been slapped with a 55-year prison sentence without the possibility of parole for a decade's worth of unspeakable acts against a child. According to the Collin County, Texas, Lloyd Amos, 55, was convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a child.

In a chilling account, authorities said Amos had ongoing access to the child and committed repeated sexual assaults over 10 years. The abuse, which began when the child was just five, was not brought to light until 2022 when the now-teenaged victim confided in a sibling. In an ensuing confrontation through text messages, Amos confessed and claimed he had repented, telling the victim's sibling he would "take care of the monster inside himself."

The Plano Police Department's detective Kristina McClain spearheaded the investigation. After the victim's sibling informed their mother of the grievous situation, law enforcement was alerted, and a formal inquiry commenced. During the probe, the victim provided investigators with details of the harrowing abuse.

A jury unanimously found Amos guilty of the first-degree felony offense, which could have landed him anywhere from 25 to 99 years, or even life, behind bars. Judge Tom Nowak ordered a 55-year sentence at the prison. "No child should suffer like this child, not even for a second. Now, with this predator locked away for over 50 years, our kids are safer," remarked District Attorney Greg Willis following the sentencing, as per Collin County, Texas.

The prosecution team, comprised of Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Claire Mosley and Alex Haynes, was bolstered by the work of District Attorney Investigators Greg Bowers and Kim Voigt-Eanes, Victim Assistance Coordinator Valerie Miller, and Legal Secretary Christy Ware.
