According to the latest update from the City of Richardson, Texas, the anticipated completion of the West Prairie Creek Drive Rehabilitation Project has been delayed due to labor shortages faced by the contractor.
Concrete signs of progress, however, are evident, as asphalt installation has been completed between Campbell Road and Fall Creek Drive allowing for two-way traffic the area has seen significant changes including paving improvements and enhancements to pedestrian crosswalks. Road warriors in Richardson should mark their calendars for April 8, when the intersection of Northview Drive onto West Prairie Creek Drive will close for construction, with the city planning to reopen it on April 13, assuming mother nature plays nice and doesn't throw a wrench in the mix with bad weather.
To keep the area safe and orderly, parents are urged not to park illegally while dropping off their kids at school. Following an upsurge in vehicles parked in construction zones and on the grass, the city installed additional "No Parking" signs last June; a subtle hint to keep the rubber on the asphalt and off the green.
Pedestrian access remains a bright spot, with the sidewalk and pedestrian bridge to Prairie Creek Elementary School open for use. Local families living near the construction won't need to reroute their school drops just yet, as they can still safely cross at West Prairie Creek and Forest Park Drive to reach the overpass.
