The Richmond Police Department had its hands full last week with many crimes, from residential burglary to a DUI collision. Detailed in a Facebook post highlighting the department's weekly patrol activity, the officers reported responding to several incidents in just seven days.

In one case, on March 11, officers were alerted to a residential burglary on the 400 block of 23rd St, where the homeowners caught a suspect on the scene. The suspect was promptly arrested and found with cash matching the amount missing from the residence. That same day, another individual was taken into custody when police responded to a stolen vehicle alert only to discover the driver behind the wheel of the reported vehicle. This theft, wrapped neatly with the driver's arrest, appears to showcase the efficiency of the Flock safety system.

Drinking and driving also passed onto the blotter with a March 12th arrest. Police were dispatched to the intersection of W. Cutting and Canal Blvd, where an individual involved in a collision showed signs of heavy intoxication with a breath alcohol content more than triple the legal limit. On the same day, a shooting incident was investigated in the 600 block of S. 31st St after a detection system reported gunfire – bullet casings and marks on a nearby residence told a story of violence, thankfully devoid of injuries to the people inside.

March 14 saw officers stop a suspicious man in the area of 1st St and Macdonald Ave only to witness him ditch a loaded firearm before trying, unsuccessfully, to elope on foot. Accompanying him, two other suspects with outstanding felony warrants were also apprehended, rounding off a trio of arrests due to diligent patrol work. A stolen vehicle, identified by a whisked away Flock alert spotting a stolen plate, led to another no-drama bust.

A robbery on Hilltop Dr on March 15 interrupted what should have been a simple online sales transaction. The victim, deceived with counterfeit bills and threatened with a gun, was robbed of their cell phone. The suspects evaded capture even as police scoured the area immediately after the incident.
