In a cut-and-dry case of abduction turned arrest, Riverside County deputies nailed a kidnapper after a harrowing incident in the wee hours of this morning. Deputies received a distress call at 1:16 a.m. about an adult female who had been coerced into driving a man from her Woodcrest residence to Riverside, a gripping scenario that fortunately did not end in tragedy. Abducted from her own home, the terrified woman managed to make her escape and seek help, marking a turn of events in her favor, according to the Riverside County Sheriff.
The Riverside Police Department was alerted by the victim, who, after being kidnapped, showed considerable courage by fleeing from the suspect. Running to safety, she contacted the authorities, who swooped into action posthaste. The suspect, identified as Maurice Gamble, a 32-year-old Riverside inhabitant, was swiftly apprehended along Canyon Ridge Road and Laurel Drive, presumably unaware that his criminal endeavor had stumbled.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the local sheriff's station and Riverside Police, Gamble now faces serious time away from the streets. The perpetrator was cuffed and subsequently booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center, slapped with charges including kidnapping, false imprisonment, and a slew of weapons-related offenses, as per the Riverside County Sheriff.
