Rockport Fulton ISD Receives $315,000 Grant to Ignite Careers in Welding, Announces Governor AbbottSource: Office of the Texas Governor

Texas is welding together the future of its workforce, with Governor Greg Abbott announcing a beefy grant aiming to spark new career paths for students in Rockport Fulton. The Governor declared over $315,000 from the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant is heading to Rockport Fulton Independent School District (ISD), as stated in a release on the official Texas government website yesterday.

"We are proud to invest in the next generation of hardworking Texans to further expand the Texas economy," Governor Abbott proclaimed, "This job training grant will provide Rockport Fulton ISD students with the skills they need to succeed in their careers as welders and thrive in our great state." The grant, bestowed by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), will finance the purchase and set up of equipment that'll initially train more than 125 students for high-demand welding occupations.

"By supporting career and technical education, Del Mar College is investing in the future of Texas’ workforce," TWC Chairman Bryan Daniel added, affirming the state's drive to cultivate homegrown talent. The grant's impact was celebrated yesterday during an award ceremony at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, where TWC Chairman Bryan Daniel presented the grant in the presence of state and local dignitaries, school staff, and CTE students.

It's no secret that technical skills can light up a solid path to stable employment, and with Texas betting big on its youth, the JET grant is a linchpin in the development of new educational programs. Funded by the Texas Legislature, this grant aims to ease the financial burden of starting up CTE programs in various educational institutions, ensuring that students get hands-on training for in-demand jobs.
