March is Women's History Month and San Antonio is stepping up with a full slate of events that celebrate women's contributions and achievements. From the culinary scene booming with female-owned restaurants to art exhibits and leadership panels, the city is showcasing the best it has to offer concerning women's accomplishments.

As reported by KENS 5, an array of female-owned eateries are taking the spotlight this month. Included in the list are a diverse mix of cuisines ranging from BBQ, such as The Purple Pig, to European delicacies at European Dumpling Cafe, and healthy options at Pharm Table. With upwards of dozens of restaurants mentioned, locals are eager to support establishments like Lucy Cooper's, Sichuan House, and Peach Cobbler, among others.

Art also takes a prominent place, with the McNay Art Museum unveiling "Womanish: Audacious, Courageous, Willful Art," a potent exhibit displaying the works of 80 women artists. “From theater arts and works on paper to a dynamic mix of modern and contemporary sculpture, video, and prints, Womanish honors the McNay’s commitment to championing women artists,”  expressed the museum’s director, Matthew McLendon in a statement obtained by mySA.com. Paintings, sculptures, videos, and prints are exhibited to underscore empowerment and celebrate women's roles across various cultures.

An upcoming "Ladies in Leadership" panel discussion by the Ghost Light Society, titled "Women Who Tell Our Stories," will feature prominent San Antonio leaders on March 9. Figures like Joyce Slocum of Texas Public Radio and C. Bethany Reed, the founder of a PR agency, will come together to share insights in an event that integrates poetry and public discourse, according to a mySA.com report.

The San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame is also gearing up to honor 15 local women for their exemplary service across various fields, such as education, the military, and the creative arts. Notables like Nora Lopez, Metro Editor at San Antonio Express-News, will be present. A silent auction at the event will fund scholarships for students at the Young Women’s Leadership Academy, with tickets available on the SAWHOF website, mySA.com revealed.

In addition, Southside Craft Soda, Just the Drip Coffee, and SA Local Market are hosting a celebration for International Women's Day on March 8. With live music and a local vendor market, a part of the proceeds will benefit a nonprofit aiding teenage mothers and their children, opening a benevolent avenue for festivities.
