The spirit of Fiesta is palpable as the Texas Cavaliers have crowned the junior Picasso of their 2024 art contest, where students flexed their creative muscles celebrating American landmarks. With the grand prize winner shining amongst over 1,100 entries from San Antonio's young talents, the "Viva America - Great American Landmarks" parade theme is taking shape into a vibrant tapestry of patriotic hues, reported FOX San Antonio.
Scott Allen Christy has been announced, wearing the honor of Fiesta King for 2024, ready to continue a legacy of philanthropy and celebration. Already riding high as King Antonio CI, the 101st in a line of monarchs, Scott doesn't just wear a crown; His Majesty backs it up with solid community credentials. As per San Antonio Business Journal, "I saw him participate in the River Parade and give back," Christy told the journal, speaking of his father with years of service.
This year's Fiesta king, Scott Christy, is no stranger to acts of service, dishing out more than just waves from a float. With over $8.5 million earmarked for local children's charities during this Fiesta cycle, the Texas Cavaliers are showing once again that they mean business when it comes to charity – and Christy is leading the parade of giving. "It's something I don't take lightly," he declared in an interview.
The Cavaliers' royal entourage isn't just throwing coins from their carriages; schools and hospitals are on their itinerary, spreading a message as Christy shared, "We do a little skit, and our message this year is: Be dedicated. Finish your task. Get across the finish line." Dressed in the garb of generosity, the Texas Cavaliers seem to be picturing more than a royal appearance – they sketch real-world impact for kids citywide, the San Antonio Business Journal noted.
With an arsenal of over 500 members and a history dating back to 1926, the Texas Cavaliers continue to stitch the fabric of Fiesta with philanthropy and tradition.
