In a tragic development that has shaken the community of San Antonio, the bodies of 32-year-old Savannah Kriger and her 3-year-old son Kaiden were discovered on Tuesday at Tom Slick Park, having been missing since Monday. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar confirmed the findings, suggesting a murder-suicide, after park police found the victims in a ditch early Tuesday morning. In a statement obtained by News 4 San Antonio, authorities have commenced an autopsy to ascertain the precise cause of death.
Savannah Kriger, uncontactable and gone from sight after retrieving her son from daycare, left worried family and authorities to initiate a search. Found abandoned at the park was her car, drawing a search party to the West Side location. Described by her aunt as a "very loving person," the family struggles to grapple with this loss, and she told News 4 San Antonio, "she wouldn’t have done that, she wouldn’t have done that."
Earlier encounters with law enforcement at their Dovers Den home included a reported assault on January 27 and subsequent welfare checks, the latest being on the day of their disappearance. According to a report by FOX San Antonio, Sheriff Salazar indicated that evidence of gunshots was found at the residence.
Adding to the complexities of the case, Savannah had filed for divorce on March 7 and was granted a temporary restraining order against her husband, found by public records. In a protective order filed on March 15, the tension within the family dynamic was evidently escalating. In honor of the deceased, a vigil is being organized by Savannah's mother for 6 p.m. Friday at Tom Slick Park, extending an invitation to the public, as reported by FOX San Antonio.
As the authorities press on to unravel the events that lead to these heartrending deaths, the community is left mourning and offering their support to a family in distress during this time of unspeakable sorrow. The investigation continues, with the hope of providing closure to all those affected by this tragic incident.
