A local father from San Antonio, John David Salinas, has launched a heartfelt appeal to recover a cherished tool with familial significance, according to KENS 5. The item is a distinctive Craftsman USA screwdriver, with a yellow and red handle - a keepsake from Salinas's late father.

Salinas inadvertently left the tool behind after aiding a stranded driver and her two teens at a convenience store off Culebra and Oak Hill Road. In the rush of departure, the invaluable screwdriver, a link to his father who passed 12 years ago, was forgotten. "It was kind of one of those moments slap the forehead, like did I leave it," Salinas recounted in an interview obtained by KENS 5. Salinas has since taken to social media in the hope of its return, further affirming the screwdriver's irreplaceability by stressing it holds "a lot of great memories."

Less than a mile from where Salinas's act of kindness took place, tragedy struck on the west side of San Antonio. A woman believed to be in her late 40s or early 50s, met her untimely demise early Monday morning. San Antonio Police told KENS 5 that she was pronounced dead at the scene upon their arrival at Loop 410 access road, between West Military Drive and Culebra Road.

Multiple witnesses have reported seeing an SUV strike the victim, although it is unclear whether additional vehicles were involved. Investigators remain puzzled as to whether the woman was attempting to cross the road or had fallen from a flyover. Meanwhile, Salinas continues to check with the convenience store regularly, clinging to hope that someone may have secured the screwdriver, unaware of its sentimental value to a son who simply lent a helping hand.
